Rusty (my gentle golden) joined Lend a Heart on his 12th birthday when he passed his evaluation. He may have started therapy work as a senior, but he lived every day to the fullest. While he loved children and visiting schools, his favorite visits were to the senior homes.
He had a sixth sense about who needed him the most. He made sure to spend extra time with those clients who needed a little extra love, especially in the memory care units. Rusty was a gentle and loving ambassador who always made sure to see everyone in the room and made them feel like he was there specifically to visit them. Rusty was patient, sweet, well-behaved, and the best dog I’ve ever owned.
His “Sugar Face” is greatly missed. I’m so glad he was able to do therapy work for all those years. I truly feel it was his calling.
